2007 2008 eagles is the U important
 

I was told that the U in united states on the eagle side of the silver coin in 2007 did not have a tail....the 2008's U has a tail....some 2008's have the 2007 U without the tail...is this indeed true or is it a TALE....if it is true are the coins worth more....as always thanks for the helpful input...and even the sarcastic input too....:smokin:

I can't believe no one here got on these? I posted right after the error was discovered. You should have ordered a few?
What you have is a variety/error silver eagle.
2008 was the first year the US Mint switched to a digitally engraved hub from the hand engraved previous eagles.
Some how, 2007 dies got into production... the US Mint put out a statement there may be as many as 47,000 errors. I believe there are less than 30,000...which would make this one, the new key to the silver eagle series. The coin has a 2008 obverse, a 2007 reverse and is currently selling at $325-$340.

It's true and they're selling on ebay for upwards of $350. However, I'm wondering if they will hold this value, they seem to be readily available. No telling how many were made with the error.
